I'm really liking this trash can idea!!

It's really working! I haven't used a plastic trash bag since the beginning of August. My husband has used one. What a difference this could make if it caught on. Think about the possibilities. I'm loving this and my head is spinning with more ideas. You will hear about them soon.

Off to the recycle center!!!

This is how pretty your trunk can look storing up bags for the recycle center. I have used and washed these bags over and over again and they are holding up great!!! I've saved the environment from a multitude of plastic bags that will never break down. My husband hated it when I had my trunk full of white plastic bags, but he doesn't mind this at all.
This trip to the recycle center I got $9.22 to put in the grand kids savings accounts and I saved 190 glass, aluminum and plastics items from the land fills!!!

The trash can adventure still continues

What I have discovered is that if I empty the trash I can put a recycl-a-bag back in and put the old one in the wash. If my husband empties the trash he puts a white plastic bag back in. Yikes!!!! How am I going to get him on board?

  1.    I think my trash looks so much better!!! And I continue to keep plastic out of the environment :)

The trash can adventure continues....

It's working!!!! So far I have emptied the trash bag into my dumpster 3 times. That has saved 3 plastic bags from becoming part of our environment!! I am sooooo excited!!!! I'm posting pics so you can see how cool our trash/recyclables can look. This is just so awesome. I really think this could make a huge difference.
Recycl-a-bags ready to leave the can
Look how pretty trash, cans and bottles can be!
Ready to go again!
Next time I have my car trunk full of recycl-a-bags for the recycle center I'll show you that too. My husband is much more tolerant of my recycling when I make it pretty.

The Trash Can Adventure

So, the other day my husband goes to throw something away. When he opens the cabinet for the trash can he says "Are you serious? You put a recycl-a-bag in the regular trash can?" He has a hard time with anything new around the house. Anyway, I told him it was an experiment and may not be permanent, but that he needed to let me try it out.
My thoughts are, that back in the day people didn't put all their trash into bags before they put it out to the trash. They used their cans and then washed them out. Now a days we throw millions of plastic bags into landfills that contain our trash. Bags that may or may not break down. When the trash is dumped there without bags at least it can break down and take up less space.
So, this is what I'm going to do. Anything that I can compost, I will compost. Anything that can go down the garbage disposal will go there. My cans and bottles will go into my recycle container in a recycl-a-bag (for easy transport to the recycle center) and the rest will go into my tall kitchen recycl-a-bag. If it's something really messy I'll consider putting it in a grocery store sack first. Then when it's full I'll take it to the large trash can (In my case a dumpster because I live in a condo) and dump it in there. I'll replace that bag with the other one that I will rotate between and wash the other one with my regular wash.
I'll keep you posted on how this works, but I think it's a terrific environment friendly idea.
  Have a great day !!

Welcome to Marci's Garden
We are doing our part to help the environment by giving you an alternative to plastic grocery bags you use to carry your lunch and plastic trash bags you use to store your cans and bottles.

About Recycla-bags
We invented Recycla-bags after noticing how many plastic trash bags were simply discarded at the recycle center after turning in our cans and bottles. We designed them to be strong, reuseable and pleasing to the eye. This led to the development of the Recycla-bag Lunch Sack to reduce the waste of plastic grocery bags to carry lunches. All bags are handmade in the US with love and care and commitment to the environment and the economy. The bags are made of 100% cotton upper with a ripstop nylon base lined with waterproof premium vinyl.

Uses
Designed as an alternative to plastic trashbags and grocery sacks for everyday uses.
Use Large Recycla-bags to store recyclable cans and bottles.
Use Small Recycla-bags to line the recycle bin or container in the home. Can hold 55- 65 cans and bottles
Use Recycla-sacks instead of plastic grocery store bags to carry your lunch.
